Twitter roll

This custom widget does not apply to all themes. Check your theme's description first, to make sure it's included.

The following code only applies to themes generated after June,28th 2013, due to an update. If your theme was purchased previously, you can regenerate your theme and receive an updated version by following these instructions.

To add this tab script to your website, you just need to add some HTML code to the desired page.

Paste the code below:

<h6>Tweets</h6>
<div id="twitter" class="widget widget-twitter"></div>
<script type="text/javascript">
     twitterFetcher.fetch('YOUR_TWITTER_ID', 'twitter', 3, true, false, true);
</script>

How to use fetch function:

@param {string} id – is your Twitter widget ID.

@param {string} DOMid – is the ID of the DOM element you want to write results to.

@param {int} maxNumberOfTweets Optional – is the maximum number of tweets you want returned (number between 1 and 20).

@param {boolean} parseLinks Optional - set true if you want urls and hash tags to be hyperlinked.

@param {boolean} showUser Optional - set false if you don’t want user photo for tweet to show.

@param {boolean} showTime Optional - set false if you don’t want time of tweet to show.

How to find out your twitter ID:

1.       Go to www.twitter.com and sign in as normal, go to your settings and select “Settings” option.

2.       Go to "Widgets" on the left hand side.

3.       Create a new widget for what you need eg "user timeline" or "search" etc.

4.       Now go back to settings page, and then go back to widgets page, you should see the widget you just created. Click edit.

5.       Now look at the URL in your web browser, you will see a long number like this: 347762521526136833.

6.       Use this as your ID below instead.

    Hi Amber, the js script we use for the twitter roll was updated recently.

    I'm attaching the new version. Please replace it in your theme and let me know how it went.

    My best,

    Beatriz

    I don't know why I'm struggling! I pasted the attached and then all the code just shows up on the page! :( Also, I'm using the SPC skin; I was hoping the Social Icons were part of the skin as advertised at purchase. Do you have that to share as well?

    Amber did you replace the existing jquery.twitter.js with the new one?

    Yes, deleted the old. I opened your attached doc, copied all content, pasted into the HTML of an HTML module, and replaced 'null' with our username.

    Amber you were not supposed to copy the .js file content, but the file itself.

    In your theme there was a file with the same name. You just had to copy the one I sent over the existing one.

    Gotcha! New to this! :)  So where to I go to 'replace' the other file?

    You have 2 options:

    If you have access to the server files (either by remote desktop, or FTP) you can replace the file directly in the skin's directory. It should be a path similar to root/portals/_default or portalID/skins/skin_name/js/

    If you don't have server access you can repackage the skin.

    1. Make a backup copy of the skin's original zip file for future reference.
    2. Extract the skin's zip fie to a folder
    3. Replace the .js file in the skin's js/ folder
    4. Zip the folder content again (not the folder, but the files)
    5. The new zip can be installed again

    Let me know if you have further questions.

    I was wondering how do the new API changes in twitter affect this.  My twitter Rolls stopped from working yesterday.  This coincides with the date of the API 1.0 retirement.  Here is the link from Twitter about the change.  https://dev.twitter.com/blog/api-v1-is-retired

    Is everyone experiencing issues?  If so, will this be fixed in an update?

    Thanks in advance for any info!

    Hi,

    We're conscious about this issue of Twitter widget in some of our themes. We'll launch a fix release soon and this problem will be solved in the following themes: SPC, Flexo and Interface - for all platforms.

    The others will take a little additional time to be fixed, as we'll give a great update to those themes!

    We'll keep all you posted!

    Cheers,

    Ana Sampaio

    How soon can I expect an update to SampleKit that will fix the Twitter roll?

    Hi Aaron, the SampleKit theme was recently updated, and the twitter widget is new.

    The theme is also now responsive and includes a lot of new features.

    You can re-generate your theme and request an updated version by following the following our KB article:http://support.bind.pt/entries/20389251-How-do-I-get-an-update-for-my-theme-
